A Letter to Kay Hagan

Dear Senator Hagan,

I am very troubled with the way that you have been handling yourself as our representative in Washington.  I would like to believe that, even when a politician does not agree with the positions that I hold, she would be voting her heart and for what she believes is the right thing to do.  Sadly, you have shown the world that you are not a person of good character, who votes with her heart, but an example of the phrase “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

When you remarked that “Harry Reid knows how to get 60 votes, and that was very important to our country in order to move forward with that legislation,” you let everyone know that simply getting any health care “reform” bill passed was more important to you than getting the right bill passed, even if it meant buying the votes of other Senators.

Well, Senator Hagan, that money that you are voting to use to buy votes to pass your little pet bill is not yours to spend as you wish.  It is taxpayers money that we have worked hard to earn.  Money that the government forcibly takes from us.  You had better have a damn good reason for taking my money and using it to buy votes for a program that the majority of Americans does not even support is just wrong.

And during the campaign you bragged about being a churchgoing woman!  I may not go to church, Senator Hagan, but I daresay that my behavior represents morals at least as good as yours.  I don’t know how you can sleep at night.

Sincerely,
A concerned constituent
