Sidewalk Protest at Kay Hagan Event?

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:52 am by gsoteapartygirl

In case you missed it, Scott posted this comment:

“Hagan will be at the Temple Emanuel on Jefferson Road in Greensboro for an interfaith event on Sunday, March 7, 7:30 p.m. LOVE TO GET A SIDEWALK PROTEST GOING TO LET HER KNOW WE ARE NOT WAITING FOR THE 15th or November elections to let us be known.”

I won’t be able to make it, but it is an excellent idea to let her know that we are still out here and still very unhappy with her blatant disregard for the concerns of her constituents.

As citizens of a Democracy, we have a civic responsibility to rally and protest. However, I do not think it is appropriate to protest at a place of worship during an interfaith service. Hagan has been getting around the state, there are plenty of other opportunities to voice our opinions to her in a public way. I think it would show a great deal of decency to not disrupt this particular event.

Do you have another suggestion? (I’m not trying to be rude, just practical.)
The fact of the matter is that the health care “reform” legislation that she would like to ram down our throats will affect all of us in just about the deepest way possible — in our bodies. I think it’s highly inappropriate for the government to dictate what happens to my body, don’t you? Kay Hagan also refused to have health care townhalls over the summer, generally refuses to meet with constituents and doesn’t respond when we attempt to contact her. So when should we protest? When and where would be a better time? How can we get her to take her constituents seriously??
